The project will prepare a concise literature review on the economics of education. The review will compile key research findings from national and international research literature to support societal debate and political decision-making.
The project aims to answer the following questions, among others:
The macroeconomic significance of education
• Why do economists think education is important? In what ways can education affect economic growth? What externalities can education produce?
The impact of education on individuals and society
• How does education affect a person’s own income and employment? What non-monetary effects does education have? What skills are in demand on the labor market?
The impact of the learning environment
• How does group size affect learning outcomes? How important is the teacher to the learning of children and young people? What is known about the impact of curricula?
Lifelong learning
• How do the effects of educational investments depend on the age of learners? Does adult education help meet the challenges posed by changes in economic structures? What do we know about the effects of integration measures?
