Organisation: five research programs

The strategic guidelines and policies for Etla’s operations are determined by the board, which assembles 4-5 times a year. The board has 8-10 members, including both prominent representatives of industry and commerce and renowned persons with a strong background in research. Carl Haglund is the chairman of the board.

Etla’s overall operations are lead by the managing director, Aki Kangasharju since March 2019.

Etla has been organized into 5 research groups based on research themes as well as joint support functions. Etla has two subsidiaries: Etlatieto Oy for selected project research and Taloustutkimus Oy, a publisher.

ETLA Senior Fellows

Etla has invited prestigious external researchers contributing to research projects as Etla Senior Fellows.


Etla has extensive regular and project-specific co-operation with both domestic and foreign research institutes and individual researchers, including researchers in other fields of science.

The institute is a member of AIECE, the Association of European Forecasting Institutes, ENEPRI, the European Network of Economic Policy Research Institutes, and EUROFRAME, the European Forecasting Research Association for the Macro-Economy.
