Artificial intelligence, robotics, and blockchains

A consortium has been established between VTT Technical Research Center of Finland Ltd, The Research Institute of the Finnish Economy (ETLA), Aalto University, University of Helsinki, University of Jyväskylä, Silo.AI, and TMikko with a research focus on artificial intelligence, robotics, and blockchain technology.

The consortium’s research sheds light on the bigger picture of artificial intelligence and relevant competences in Finland, thus aiming to increase productivity through the discovery of new modes of working, new processes, and new business models.
The consortium also investigates opportunities to utilize algorithmic decision-making and robotic automation software in the public administration and its support functions, as well as the current legislative opportunities and challenges in regard to these avenues of development.

Furthermore, as a part of its research, the consortium also looks into the opportunities of utilizing blockchain technology and smart contracts to digitally transform the current systems of salary taxation by enhancing process integration and automation, thus better responding to the disruption from digital platforms, the gig economy, and digitalization at large.
