During the last five years e.g. Brexit, COVID-19 crisis and trade wars have probably affected Finnish companies’ international trade and barriers to trade. For this reason, Finland does not currently have a recent understanding of the barriers to trade faced by companies. Finland is also lacking understanding of how big economic effects trade barriers faced by Finnish companies have.
The aim of this research project is to produce an up-to-date picture of the trade barriers faced by Finnish companies. In addition, new information is being produced on the monetary effects of trade barriers faced by Finnish companies.
Barriers to trade are analyzed by type of barrier and are also examined by country and region (EU and non-EU). Additionally, the obstacles encountered in different industries are analyzed. In addition to the above, the aim is also examine how the COVID-19 crisis is changing the value chains of companies. Over the past year and half, there have been serious disruptions in global value chains. It is therefore essential to know how companies are responding to these disruptions and how value chains are changing.
