Assessment of the impact of innovation ecosystems and indicators

Innovation ecosystems are recognized as playing an increasingly important role in the implementation of innovation and industry policies at national, regional and EU level. However, the assessment of the impact of ecosystems is complex and the assessment and measurement of the significance and impact of different types of ecosystems is also underdeveloped internationally.

The aim of this research project is to develop impact assessment and measurement of ecosystems that promote RDI activities in order to assess the significance and impact of policies that support ecosystems on sustainable growth and the well-being of Finns. Effectiveness information can also be used to support management and decision-making in the direction of public funds and measures.

The main goal and outcome of this research project is to provide information and tools for understanding the impacts of innovation ecosystems and broader impact pathways based on the research. The study will support national and regional authorities in drawing a more accurate picture of both the development of innovation ecosystems and their impact paths. In addition, the study supports those in targeting policies to support and guide ecosystems at different stages.

This research project is carried out in cooperation with Etla and MDI Public OY who coordinates the project.
