The operational landscape for Nordic countries and other small open economies is undergoing significant changes due to rising geopolitical tensions, heightened trade barriers, and increased business subsidies from larger nations. In this new era, the interdependencies and operational reliability of value chains have become crucial concerns, particularly if geopolitical tensions continue to intensify. While value chains typically involve multiple tiers, a single country’s import data only reveals one stage of this complex network. This project aims to shed new light on the interconnectedness of Nordic value chains, thereby enhancing our understanding of their resilience in potential crisis situations.
The project is a collaborative effort between Etla and the statistical authorities of five Nordic countries: Finland, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, and Sweden.
