Supervisor’s Support and Job Satisfaction

Böckerman PetriKangasniemi MariKauhanen Antti

Abstract

Support from supervisor and coworkers are strongly associated with better job satisfaction. The role of support is not limited to demanding jobs, but is important in a wide variety of jobs. Labor market history also affects perceived job satisfaction. For example, unemployment spells decrease perceived trust. Measuring perceptions of supervisor support is easy and organizations could use these measurements to develop their management practices.
