BRIE-ETLA: Business and Work in the Era of Intelligent Tools

BRIE, The Berkeley Roundtable on the International Economy, and ETLA have studied aspects of digitalization in collaboration since 2001. The concluding seminar of the fitth three-year round of this collaboration will be held on August 30th, 2018, from 8:30 (coffee from 8:00) to 13:30 (buffet lunch from about 12:30) at Hotel Kämp in Helsinki (The Mirror Room in the second floor). The current round of BRIE-ETLA is kindly supported by Business Finland and Technology Industries of Finland.

The seminar, to be held in English, discusses
– how digital platforms spawn new business models and forms of work,
– how artificial intelligence drives the next societal transformation,
– how blockchain-enabled decentralized structures, and
– maps our digital future and related avenues for scholarly research.

Speakers at the seminar include  Yves Doz (INSEAD), Aleksi Grym (Bank of Finland), Martin Kenney (UC Davis), Kenji Kushida (Stanford), Juri Mattila (ETLA), Mark Nitzberg (UC Berkeley), Erkki Ormala (Aalto Univ.), Andrea Renda (CEPS), Petri Rouvinen (ETLA), Timo Seppälä (Aalto Univ.), Pekka Ylä-Anttila (ETLA), and John Zysman (BRIE). The participants consist of a mix of academics, business leaders, and policymakers.
