# Finland, China and the industrial policy breakthrough

This research project studies how the rise of Chinese industry, industrial policy and changing geo-economic settings affect Finnish companies in domestic markets, third markets and China. The focus of the study is in particular on the competitive position of Finnish companies, dependencies related to China and the location and operations of companies in the Chinese market.

The project produces an up-to-date picture of the competitive position of Finnish companies in relation to Chinese actors and the motives and results of their location in China. It also assesses how China’s industrial policy differs from Finnish and EU policy lines, what kind of impacts the policy has, and what lessons can be conducted from it for companies and growth-friendly economic policy.

Etla is implementing the project in cooperation with the Finnish Institute of International Affairs.
